Mac OS X and Linux Users

Mac OS X and Linux users can use the Terminal application to login to the Ubuntu Server. On Mac OS X, the Terminal app is under the Utilities folder.

Windows Users

Windows users should download Putty to login to the Ubuntu Server at DigitalOcean.

You can download putty from here.

Using Putty

After starting Putty, specify SSH as the connection type, set the port to 22 and type your hostname into the Host Name box.

Under Saved Sessions, type your hostname again and then click the Save button. In the future, this will allow you to click your hostname under the saved sessions list and immediately load the settings

After loading the settings, click Open to start the session.

When you start putty for the first time, it will ask you if you trust the computer you are connecting to. Click Yes

You can now login to the server using the root password.
